The form's gesture is inspired by the wave patterns left on sand dunes from the sea breeze. It is named after a special place located in the Sea of Cortés in the Pacific Ocean: Isla Cortés, México. 

The main detail of this vase was designed to capture the movement  of clay by pressing down the lip with one finger and break the simplicity of its original form.
